Cyclone Fengal is making news across India. Saudi Arabia suggested the name ‘Fengal’, which is an Arabic term. It reflects the regional variety of the WMO/UNESCAP name panel by combining cultural identity and linguistic tradition. Names such as ‘Fengal’ are chosen because they are short, distinct, and non-offensive in several languages, assuring universal resonance across impacted areas.
